A factory worker was stunned when, after he had to leave his car at work overnight because it wouldn’t start, a colleague called the police on him because he happened to be parked in his “favourite spot”. Having car trouble can be a headache-inducing hassle to sort out, but one man who was well accustomed to his old car’s ways wasn’t overly concerned when it refused to start.

He was “irritated but it didn’t really affect anything” as, luckily, one of his coworkers lived near him so was able to give him a lift home. The man “didn’t have anywhere else to be besides [work] and home” so he wasn’t “worried about being without a car for a day or two”.

He approached his boss about leaving his car in the screen-print factory’s carpark overnight until he “could figure out a time to get it towed” and his boss “had no problem with it”.

Unfortunately, the factory car park was based in a business district with many other factories nearby, all sharing the same large carpark.

The man stressed there was always “plenty of spaces” to park so he wasn’t worried about causing a problem or obstructing someone else by leaving his car at work.

But this proved to be a major problem for one of the other factory workers, who had grown quite attached to the car parking space the man left his old car in.

On Reddit, the man explained when he returned to work the next day, he learned his “car trouble [was] causing drama”.

Though the space wasn’t in any way reserved or special, it was another factory worker’s “favourite” spot and he was very irate to not be able to park in it.

The man thought this was odd but didn’t think too deeply about it - until it came time to go home and he spotted a slew of police officers surrounding his car while talking to the disgruntled factory worker.

The man said: “We’re here thinking someone got hurt, or robbed, you know.. something terrible enough for a bunch of cops to show up and block all our cars in.”

He continued: “But nope. Parking spot dude was so upset about not being able to park his car in his beloved spot for one day, barely 12 hours, that he called the police and reported my vehicle as suspicious”.

The police had to investigate the complaint which made the man feel “nervous” as he approached his car. Once he showed the officer his licence and was able to prove the car belonged to him and was “legit” but simply had a dead battery and was awaiting being towed, the police were content nothing untoward was happening.

This enraged the factory worker though, who wanted him to get a parking ticket or fine for leaving his car in his favourite spot.

The police officer pointed out that “it’s not illegal to have a dead battery”, prompting the “grown man” to “throw a temper tantrum”.

The man continued: “It was obvious from the get go that [the police] didn’t give a s*** about me and my car. They pulled up expecting a big bust, and all they got was a kid with car trouble and a toddler trapped in an old man’s body.”

He confessed he “was kind of disappointed” the factory worker wasn’t arrested or fined but conceded “you can’t have everything”.

The man added: “As relieved as I was, I was super embarrassed to have all that happen in front of everyone, but they were all just blown away by how the dude was acting. I was hoping to have my car dealt with that day, since it was close to the weekend, but out of spite I kept it there another day or two.”
