‘I’m a mechanic – this is the most reliable used car on the road for 1 reason’

A motoring mechanic has revealed the “most reliable car” on the market with one simple reason why it stands out. A mechanic from Prestige Services and Maintenance stressed Toyota was the best option with models hardly ever coming in for repairs.
The expert admitted that Toyota models “only ever” come in for MOT tests and servicing. This stands out more than other brands, making it one of the best on the market for those who don’t want any reliability issues longer term. Prestige Services and Maintenance made the admission through the online social media channel TikTok.
The mechanic said: “People always ask me what my favourite car brand is. For me, I love my Ferrari’s. My dream car, a Ferrari 488 Pista in Rosso Corsa Red. However, the most reliable car is a Toyota. It could be any Toyota. They are reliable. They only ever come in for services and MOTs.”
But, they weren’t the only expert who praised Toyota, with leading mechanic Scotty Kilmer also praising the Japanese brand.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Scotty explained: “As a mechanic, I’ve worked on tons of different cars over the last five decades, and I can personally attest to Toyota’s quality myself. The reliability of a Toyota is largely to do with it’s low number of mechanical issues.
“But here’s something that not many people know. Buying a Toyota will actually save you a lot of money, compared to other brands.”
In particular, Scotty has previously identified two particular Toyota models, the Rav4 and the Corolla. The Corolla is a popular second-hand car in the UK with thousands registered on the road.
As well as hardly breaking down, Scotty praised the Corolla for having an amazing safety record and for its usually cheap insurance.
He said: “They sold millions of them so there’s plenty of good used ones out there, you don’t have to buy a new one.
“If it's raining, this front wheel drive is great in the rain and the snow. They've got a lot of room and they've really come up in quality on their interior, they are nice looking.”
