The Zeekr 001 FR is reportedly preparing to launch a new version of its hypercar that will exceed 2,000 horsepower. If these rumors are true, it would be the first Chinese -made vehicle to reach such a level of performance. The new model is also expected to feature a revised body designed to reduce weight, and will require retuning of the body, brakes, and tires to handle the massive power. The Zeekr 001 FR is an all-electric hypercar that will launch in October 2023 with a starting price of 769,000 yuan ($107,000). The current model is a performance vehicle that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.02 seconds and has a maximum power output of 1,300 horsepower. CHARGES IN 15 MINUTES The 001 FR achieves its performance with a four-motor distributed electric drive system. Powering the car, the 100kWh battery pack can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 15 minutes. THERE ARE SPECIAL DRIVING MODES The 001 FR offers special driving modes, including a “Raikkonen Mode” designed to provide an F1 champion-like driving experience, and an “Overclock Mode” for increased power output. When Zeekr first introduced the 1,300-horsepower 001 FR two years ago, it proudly proclaimed on social media that “the rivals won’t be able to do this in five years.” However, just a few months ago, Xiaomi introduced the 1,500-horsepower SU7 Ultra. Given the 001 FR’s performance branding and its significantly higher price point compared to the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, it’s no surprise that Zeekr is now rumored to be releasing a new 2,000-horsepower version.
