The automobile and light commercial vehicle market increased by 5.1 percent in the January-June period

According to the June 2025 data of the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), automobile sales increased by 5.4 percent in the January-June period compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 488,003, while light commercial vehicle sales increased by 3.8 percent, reaching 119,376.

Türkiye's automobile and light commercial vehicle sales increased by 5.1 percent in the same period, reaching 607,379.

In June, the automobile and light commercial vehicle market increased by 11.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 118,013, while automobile sales increased by 6.6 percent in the same period, reaching 93,676. The light commercial vehicle market also grew by 32.4 percent in June, reaching 24,337.

81.1 percent of the market consisted of vehicles in the A, B and C segments with low tax rates. C segment cars had a 55.1 percent share with 268,817, while B segment cars had a 25.6 percent share with 124,895.

When evaluated according to body types, the most preferred body type was SUV cars with a 62.8 percent share and 306,286 sales.

SUVs were followed by sedans with a 21.8 percent share and 106,398 sales, and H/B cars with a 14.5 percent share and 70,779 units.

Gasoline car sales reached 229,128 with a 47 percent share, hybrid car sales reached 131,686 with a 27 percent share, electric car sales reached 85,894 with a 17.6 percent share, diesel car sales reached 38,073 with a 7.8 percent share and LPG car sales reached 3,222 with a 0.7 percent share.

ELECTRIC CAR SALES INCREASED

Sales of electric cars under 160 kilowatts increased by 104.3 percent to reach a share of 13.9 percent, while sales of electric cars over 160 kilowatts increased by 191.3 percent to reach a share of 3.7 percent.

Sales of cars under 1600cc decreased by 25 percent and had a share of 54.6 percent, sales of cars in the 1600-2000cc range increased by 9.7 percent and had a share of 0.6 percent, while sales of cars over 2000cc increased by 13.6 percent and had a share of 0.2 percent.

While automatic transmission cars had a share of 94.7 percent with 462 thousand 89, manual transmission cars reached a share of 5.3 percent with 25 thousand 914.

According to the body type in the light commercial vehicle market, the van body type was the most preferred body type with a share of 73.6 percent and 87 thousand 833 units, while the pickup truck body type came in second with a share of 9.9 percent and 11 thousand 850 units.
