Automotive giant's second-quarter sales down 9 percent

Mercedes-Benz announced its vehicle sales figures for the second quarter of the year. Accordingly, the company's vehicle sales decreased by 9 percent in the second quarter compared to the same period in 2024, falling to 547,100.

The company's statement said deliveries to dealers were carefully adjusted to navigate new global tariff policies, adding that the situation affected the company's passenger car sales in the United States and China.

The company's light commercial vehicle sales (vans) decreased by 10 percent in the period in question, reaching 93,400. The German manufacturer's battery electric vehicle sales also decreased by 18 percent in the second quarter, falling to 41,900.

Sales of Mercedes-Benz alone fell by 9 percent to 453,700 in the second quarter.

The German luxury automaker's sales in China, its biggest market, fell 19 percent in the second quarter to 140,400, while U.S. sales fell 12 percent to 74,600.

In Europe and Germany, sales increased by 7 percent and 1 percent, respectively.
