By the end of this year, at least 50 powerful charging stations will appear in Moscow, allowing you to charge your electric car batteries in about 20 minutes. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the capital's Department of Transport.
"We continue to implement the Energy of Moscow project and are currently testing a new type of charging station for electric vehicles. Its capacity will be 50 kW - several times more than now. By the end of the year, at least 50 such stations will appear in the city. We will install them in places where it will be most convenient to use them: near grocery stores and cafes, in the center and near residential buildings," the statement says. It should be noted that the capacity of Tesla's branded charging stations currently reaches 250 kW.
The Department of Transport specified that the new charging stations will be equipped with European and American type connectors. It will be possible to book an electric car charge at such stations through the Moscow Transport app.
Let us recall that in 2020, a total of 687 new electric vehicles were sold in Russia, 95% more than the year before. Despite the almost twofold increase in sales, electric vehicles occupied approximately 0.04% of the Russian new car market. In mid-May, a working group under the Ministry of Economy prepared a draft program "Highly automated electric transport in cities", which provides that 418 billion rubles will be spent on the development of electric transport by 2030, including 153.5 billion rubles from the budget and extra-budgetary funds. The plan provides that in 2022, the share of electric vehicles in the Russian car market should be 1.7% with total car sales of 1.8 million units, and by 2030 - 15% (with a car market volume of 2.5 million units). The total fleet of electric vehicles by 2030 should be 1.5 million units.
In March, it became known that the Ministry of Emergency Situations had developed a draft of a new set of rules (SP) with requirements for fire safety in parking lots. Among other things, the document allows the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles in underground parking lots, while the current SP of 2013 directly prohibits this. "Electric vehicles are in demand among the population, their operation requires ensuring safety issues," the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported at the time, specifying that the new SP will soon be approved, and the document will come into force in 2022.
Currently, the Ministry of Emergency Situations inspectors can issue an order to dismantle a charging station in an underground parking lot. If its owner does not comply with the requirement, he faces a fine. A legal alternative to charging stations are three-phase 380-volt general-purpose sockets to which electric vehicles can be connected. Such sockets are installed in many parking lots of Moscow shopping centers, business centers and residential complexes.
