Starting June 30, Tesla plans to temporarily halt production of the Model Y and Cybertruck pickup truck at its Austin , Texas, factory, and has already informed employees of the decision.
According to Business Insider, the break will last a week until July 4th and, during this period, workers will be able to take time off or attend voluntary training activities.
The production halt is not due to financial problems or lack of demand. Tesla will maintain its assembly lines , telling employees that this will help speed up production.
In the past year, Tesla has already halted production in Austin at least twice, Business Insider notes. The most recent was at the end of May. In April, production of the Cybertruck was reduced.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk's controversial brand is also preparing to launch a robotaxi service in Austin - initially with ten to 20 cars, all Model Ys.
