The decision is confirmed: Mazda has discontinued its first electric car in Europe , the MX-30, which thus leaves the scene when the arrival of a new model is already confirmed for the near future.
The confirmation comes from the brand's PR department in the United Kingdom, through Monique Clark in statements to Motor1: " The MX-30 BEV has been withdrawn from sale in Europe and all examples in the UK have now been sold. The Mazda MX-30 BEV has ceased production for Europe and the UK ."
Despite all this, Mazda is sticking with its MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV – which also has a naturally aspirated 830cc rotor acting as a generator to charge the 17.8kWh battery, extending the car’s range (which is only around 200km). The rotor is not connected to the wheels, so it is not directly involved in moving the vehicle.
But the Japanese manufacturer is not holding back on all-electric models, with the new 6e – a saloon – already on pre-sale in Portugal . Also in the pipeline is the CX-6e, which is an SUV and was presented in April at the Shanghai Motor Show.
