National roads leading to border crossings with Germany and Lithuania will be narrowed in places, GDDKiA announced. This is due to the temporary return of controls, which is the government's response to reports of migrants entering Poland illegally. The head of the Directorate assured that the changes introduced from July 7 will impede car traffic "to the least extent possible".
As announced by the head of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, Paweł Woźniak , a special traffic organization will be introduced on dual carriageways leading to 14 border crossings with Germany and Lithuania. Due to the return of temporary controls, they will be narrowed to one lane.

The Director of GDDKiA specified that information about these difficulties will be transmitted in advance using signals and signs. Additionally, "the entire flow of traffic" is to be directed to specially designated traveler service areas, where Border Guard officers will selectively choose vehicles for inspection .
Woźniak assured that the changes will obstruct traffic "to the least extent possible", and to the greatest extent possible - ensure the safety of both drivers and officers conducting inspections.

The head of the Border Guard, Maj. Gen. Robert Bagan, calculated that 52 places for conducting such controls have been selected on the border with Germany, of which 16 locations will have permanent controls.
In turn, 13 places have been designated on the border with Lithuania, of which drivers will encounter permanent checks in two . Gen. Bagan noted that these are road, rail, pedestrian and bicycle and river crossings. He also said that checks at permanent points will be carried out using special containers and buses .
- In other places, ad hoc controls will be carried out by Border Guard officers with the support of Territorial Defense Forces soldiers, as well as with the support of Military Gendarmerie soldiers - he added.
Similarly, checks are to be carried out on the border with Lithuania. He said that the checks will be selective , and vehicles for them will be selected in advance.

Their decision concerns the borders with France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Poland. The main reason was the existence of a migration route through Belarus and Poland into the European Union . At the moment, Germany assumes that the controls will be carried out until September 15.
