14 lanes in one place. A unique place on the road map of Poland

We are very familiar with huge highways with many lanes from American films. It turns out that Poland also has its own impressively wide and capable roads. A record section can accommodate a dozen or so rows of cars. The road infrastructure in our country is developing, so there will be more similar views on everyday journeys.
The network of expressways in Poland is constantly growing. Currently, according to data from the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, it is already over 5.2 thousand kilometers. Almost 1.9 thousand are motorways. New connections delight drivers not only with their length, but also with their width.
14 lanes. This road is impressiveThe widest expressway in Poland has a really large number of lanes. This is a section that is part of the Warsaw Southern Bypass. It is on the famous S2, at the Opacz junction, that there is a section that in places has a total of 14 lanes (main and connecting).
Many drivers know this place very well. It is part of a key transport hub for the capital, which connects expressway no. 8 with the A2.
The widest motorway in Poland. As wide as a skyscraperWhen it comes to the widest motorway in our country, you should head for the route connecting Łódź with Silesia. There, for over 80 kilometres, the A1 has three lanes in both directions . In both directions, this gives a width of 14 metres. In total, it is almost 30 metres. As the motoryzacja.interia.pl portal notes, this is as wide as ten-storey blocks.
It's no wonder, however, that there is so much space for cars there. The A1 is an extremely important transport axis. It connects the north of the country with its southern part and with the Czech Republic (and from there, hordes of cars have been driving to the Polish seaside during the season for several years).
It's not over yet. Modernization of a key routeThe Łódź-Warsaw connection will also be considerably wide after the planned reconstruction. The A2 on this section after the changes is to be characterized by four lanes in each direction.

The investment is of great importance. According to GDDKiA estimates, up to 100,000 vehicles travel along this route daily, and traffic is expected to continue to grow. The management assures that the modernization will not be associated with making life difficult for drivers and that they will have two lanes at their disposal throughout the entire period.
The national A4 will also gain additional third lanes. This includes the Tarnów-Kraków and Krzyżowa-Wrocław directions.
There are more roads in Poland. More investmentsAlthough Poland is still behind countries such as Spain (17,228 km of motorways), Germany (12,917 km) or France (11,882 km), the development of the infrastructure needed for fast driving is gaining momentum.
