If it's a Mini, it's original. That hasn't changed, not even for the Aceman , the new 100% electric SUV from the British brand's family. We're talking about a car that makes you feel different. One that shuns convention and sets itself apart from the competition. Always available in an electric version, Mini offers three variants of the Aceman, but the SE, the one we drove, boasts a truly interesting balance. The base version, the E, uses a 38.5 kWh battery, while the most expensive and sporty, the John Cooper Works , comes at a premium.

Therefore, the Aceman SE, in our opinion, is the most interesting. It has a certified range of 400 km, thanks to its 49.2 kWh battery (usable capacity) and 218 hp of power. It's brimming with dynamism, offers a high-quality and very original interior, and has a comfortable cabin spacious enough for four people. Even though it's certified for five. As is often the case with Mini, it's not a cheap car, but it has a seductive interior and truly comprehensive equipment in this Favoured trim.

This five-door SUV may not be as attractive as the three-door, but it's larger and offers more interior space. In other words, it's a not-so-mini Mini, ideal for everyday use.

Mini's claimed 400 km of range may not be impressive, but it's more than adequate for weekday utility use. In fact, this compact SUV makes excellent use of city driving, with constant stop-start driving, to maintain its electric charge, even increasing it in certain situations. Therefore, the official 400 km can be reached without too much difficulty. This speaks volumes for its fuel efficiency.

In fact, we've observed that, on an urban route in heavy traffic, with ambient temperatures of 30°C and the air conditioning on, fuel consumption remains at around 15 kWh/100 km, which is quite good. Incidentally, the cabin cooling is fast and efficient.

On the highway, at a relaxed speed and pace, power consumption is also quite conservative. You can comfortably travel 300 km without stopping to recharge.

But if you do need to stop to charge, it's good to know that the battery has a power output of 95 kW. This means that in just 31 minutes, we'll have 80% of the battery fully charged. This means this urban electric SUV can be used quite comfortably beyond the city limits.

It also includes innovative assistance systems such as Parking Assistant Professional, Digital Key, and Remote Parking, which facilitate maneuvers. And the B mode transmission is ideal for city driving, as the car operates with a single pedal due to its high braking force.

The Aceman SE has a surprisingly sporty feel. Power delivery is instantaneous in any of the popular Mini Experience Modes. This makes it especially agile in the city and on interurban routes. The very quick steering and suspension setup even allow for a certain amount of fun on twisty stretches outside the city limits. It rolls very little in turns, as the battery's location in the floor of the car facilitates a low center of gravity. That, and the optional 225/40 R19 tires offer excellent grip.

It runs smoothly and quietly at all times, interrupted only by a rather peculiar—and artificial—sound coming from the speakers upon firm acceleration. It also offers up to seven driving modes, with the usual Go Kart mode being the sportiest and most efficient on the road. The driver can also choose the Green mode, the most environmentally friendly. The different modes vary the feel of the accelerator, brake, and steering, as well as the interior lighting, sound, and climate control to create different atmospheres.

The cockpit is truly original and finished with quality materials. It's worth highlighting, once again, the large 24-centimeter circular screen that dominates the dashboard and is equipped with the operating system used, for example, by the BMW i7. The large screen is very intuitive to use, although it packs a lot of information and requires some getting used to. It's also true that the basic functions are easy to operate.

On the other hand, the front seats provide excellent support for the body, offering excellent lateral support and comfort on long journeys. We particularly appreciate the soft plastics, the eco-leather upholstery, and, above all, the fabric of the dashboard and door panels for their excellent feel.

Mini offers an optional M package costing around 4,000 euros and adding up to twelve options. These include features such as the Head-Up Display and the sunroof.
