We drive the Audi A6 e-tron, an electric car that offers a great driving experience

When the manufacturer with the four rings makes a move, it usually does so with great determination, leaving nothing to chance. The new A6 e-tron is a good example of this, with, as its name suggests, fully electric units available in four variants (e-tron, performance, quattro, and S6) with up to 753 kilometers of range.

The 381-horsepower performance version tested is already proving to be a more than balanced option within this new range, also capable of offering high charging power (up to 270 kW with direct current) to feed its 94.9 kWh net battery.

Equipped with the PPE platform and 800-volt technology , similar to that used by Porsche in the Taycan, the A6 e-tron can be recharged from 20 to 80% in just over twenty minutes. In practice, this version's range is around 500 kilometers.

Two body types: Sportback or Avant

Aesthetically, whether in the tested Sportback body style or the Avant estate, this model boasts spectacularly fluid lines that, among other things, have resulted in the sedan achieving a record drag coefficient of just 0.21.

At almost five meters long and with a wheelbase of 2.95 meters , every detail is aimed at achieving maximum efficiency and the highest levels of autonomy.

The carefully designed air intakes, the grille fairing, the sharp shape of the headlights ... everything, in other words, everything, pursues these objectives.

Special mention should be made of its advanced lighting package (with LED Plus as standard) , which can be customized with LED matrix optics at the front and OLED optics at the rear to create up to eight state-of-the-art lighting scenarios.

Inside, the A6 is simply superb, whether for its refined style , great roominess (the generous wheelbase is vital in this regard), impeccable finishes or equipment that, if we put it into it, allows us to make a car practically à la carte.

As you might expect, there's also a corresponding array of digital screens (there's even an optional one for the passenger), with the 14.5-inch curved OLED central display taking center stage. Also noteworthy is the optional panoramic glass roof, whose opacity can be adjusted to several levels at the touch of a button.

Great dynamism and better comfort

Behind the wheel, the A6 e-tron performance displays a very good demeanor. It's as comfortable as it is powerful, and the optional adaptive suspension contributes positively to creating this pleasant atmosphere, which is in no way at odds with its status as a luxury car.

And it does so equally on a highway as on a secondary section full of curves, where we also had the opportunity to test this model, whose regenerative braking (in several stages with paddles on the steering wheel) is also at the desired level.

The fact is that it turns as neutrally as possible, it sticks to the asphalt like glue, and the sensations are those of driving a model as special as it is effective, even though it weighs over two tons.

The A6 e-tron performance is priced at €80,880 (the range starts at €70,480 for the e-tron) with three trim levels available: Advanced, S Line, and Black Line.
