Toyota offers a 10-year warranty with retroactive effect: which cars qualify for this benefit?

Toyota announced a program for its cars in Argentina that allows for a retroactive extension of the warranty to a maximum of 10 years or 200,000 kilometers (whichever comes first).
This initiative, called Toyota 10, covers brand new vehicles and some used models, both with conventional engines and hybrid technology, whose components until now had an official 8-year warranty.
Additionally, it includes all Lexus models , the Japanese company's luxury brand, that have been sold since the company arrived in the country in 2018.
The extended warranty covers key vehicle components, such as the engine, transmission, cooling system, brakes, body parts, electrical and electronic components, and the hybrid system in the case of electrified models.
Just as it has been the case until now, this warranty is transferable , meaning that a new owner of the model will also have this benefit.
One of the requirements for extending the warranty is to have maintenance services performed at Toyota dealerships.
In addition to brand new cars, vehicles purchased from January 2020 onwards can apply to the Toyota 10 program, which will have the option of extending the warranty every year or every 10,000 kilometres, for a maximum of 10 years or 200,000 kilometres in total.
This represents a fleet of approximately more than 380,000 vehicles, considering registrations from the last five years, with Toyota emerging as the market leader during that period.
The only requirement the company demands is to perform the corresponding maintenance service at an authorized dealership workshop.
The Lexus range is also included in this benefit.
Additionally, Toyota Certified Used vehicles, which are inspected and carry an official Toyota warranty, can also extend their coverage with Toyota 10.
Accessing this benefit has no extra cost and is fully transferable , which is highly attractive to second and third owners of the Japanese company's models.
During 2024, more than 675,000 vehicles were serviced in Toyota's after-sales network, according to the brand. This represented a 5.6% increase compared to 2023.
The 95 branches of the 43 official dealerships receive an average of nearly 2,800 units for maintenance, repairs, or accessory installation.
This isn't the first time Toyota has extended the warranty on its models in Argentina. The first Hilux produced in the country, starting in 1997, offered an official two-year warranty, which in 1999 increased to three years. In 2018, the company switched to offering a five-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty.
“Toyota 10 is more than just an extended warranty: it reflects our commitment to providing our customers with peace of mind and confidence. Our goal is for every customer to feel confident knowing they have a partner throughout their entire experience. And this is possible thanks to the support of our after-sales network, present in 95 locations across the country,” said Ignacio Limpenny, Toyota's Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.
