Presented at the 1999 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Seat Leon has achieved excellent sales results over its four generations, now approaching three million units sold. One of the keys to its success has been its ability to adapt to market demands, especially in its current, most technologically advanced generation .

The current model is available in electrified mild-hybrid eTSI versions that have the ECO environmental label and a recently released plug-in hybrid e-Hybrid version, with the DGT Zero label , tested by Moveo La Vanguardia .

A plug-in Seat Leon previously existed, but its electric range barely exceeded 60 km. Consequently, this represents a significant qualitative leap that makes it a benchmark, sharing this privilege with other VW Group models.

The Spanish compact's technological mix consists of a 1.5-liter e-Hybrid gasoline engine, capable of producing 150 hp, paired with an 85 kW electric motor, equivalent to 115 hp. The combined power output is 204 hp and maximum torque is 350 Nm, generating a remarkable 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.7 seconds, thanks also to the excellent performance of the six-speed DSG automatic transmission.

Efficient and also sporty, the 204 hp of power give a lot of play and generate a high dynamic performance.

The new lithium-ion battery has a net capacity of 19.7 kWh. The improved efficiency of the electric motor allows for an electric range of up to 133 km, a figure that can cover the vast majority of the driver's daily needs.

Another improvement in the new Leon e-Hybrid is its charging capabilities, which include the use of 50 kW DC fast-charging points. In these cases, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 26 minutes. If charging at home, an 11 kW DC wallbox allows a full charge, to 100%, in about two and a half hours.

The undeniable efficiency of this car is reflected in its approved fuel consumption and emissions figures. Combined fuel consumption is 0.4 liters per 100 km, and CO2 emissions are 8 g/km. Without electric power, actual gasoline consumption ranges between 5.5 and 7 liters per 100 km, slightly offset by the vehicle's heavy weight.

Aside from its outstanding mechanical efficiency, the new Seat Leon features technological improvements, including the availability of Matrix LED headlights, which offer outstanding lighting performance.

The tested e-Hybrid variant offers a 12.9-inch screen for the infotainment system as standard.

The Seat Leon is an ideal car for drivers who appreciate sportiness and driving fun. Its reactions are always firm and precise, its cornering ability is excellent, and the fun is always guaranteed.

Inside, the new features focus on enhancing digitalization, reflected in features such as the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit behind the steering wheel, as well as a standard infotainment system, which in this version of the model measures 12.9 inches.

To recharge mobile phone batteries, the Seat compact offers a new wireless charging system, which stands out for its speed, thanks to its 15 kW of power. It also features cooling technology to prevent mobile devices from overheating.

The Leon maintains its qualities as a practical and versatile vehicle. The quality of its finish is very good, and the roominess is remarkable. The driving position is satisfactory, and the height and depth adjustments are available to suit every need.

The rear seats can accommodate three people, although the middle seat isn't as comfortable. The trunk capacity of this version of the Leon is reduced to 270 liters, which is somewhat limited when it comes to accommodating luggage for several people.

Prices for the most efficient and technological Seat Leon start at €36,450, with the brand's campaigns applied, but it's possible to get attractive discounts by financing with the brand and reducing the final price of the transaction thanks to the Moves III Plan and the personal income tax deduction.
