The electric tricycle for unlimited off-road mobility

Bicycle enthusiasts are looking for fun options to spice up their outdoor adventures. That's why original alternatives like this all-terrain electric tricycle are appearing on the market, capable of pushing the boundaries of this type of three-wheeled vehicle.

It's called the Ice Full Fat, it's reclining, and it has a futuristic look. It's a radical trike with true off-road credentials. Rocks, mud, sand, gravel, snow, asphalt... It's designed to tackle any obstacle. Developed by British brand Ice Trikes, known for creating comfortable, fast, powerful, and durable three-wheeled expedition vehicles.

In fact, one of the main credentials of this new trike is that it is based on a custom-built one that crossed Antarctica to the South Pole in December 2013 and was driven by Maria Leijerstam, who held two Guinness World Records.

The general-purpose version retains elements of the original expedition trike, including a heat-treated 4130 Cromoly steel recumbent frame and oversized 26-inch diameter wheels and tires.

All of this is combined with components for riding on a variety of surfaces, such as a 14-speed Rohloff XL transmission, a rear suspension with up to 10 cm of travel, and disc brakes.

Ice creates each frame using exclusively a mix of aluminum and chromoly steel. The front of the trike is constructed of steel. This allows it to absorb impacts without deforming due to twisting. To keep the trike as light as possible, the rear is made of aluminum. The frame is powder-coated to resist the elements.

The rest of the components are customizable. You can choose the saddle type, transmission, and even different motors. Shimano provides electric assistance with an EP8 configuration with a 250W motor and 85 Nm of torque, very common in high-end MTBs.

In terms of range, a 630 Wh battery is available, with the option of adding an additional one to double the range. Regarding the transmission, the Ice Trike offers a wide range of options. You can choose between a classic cassette (with wireless or traditional control) or a hub with Enviolo Automatic shifting.
