Fiat Titano: This is the pickup truck that is already being manufactured in Córdoba and will soon be on the market.

Fiat has just embarked on a new era as a national manufacturer; another since its first production in 1960 with the Fiat 600 at its Caseros plant. The Italian brand, with a long tradition in our country, has just launched the Fiat Titano, the midsize pickup truck it already manufactures at its Ferreyra plant in Córdoba.
This isn't the first time Fiat has produced a pickup truck in our country. In 1966, it debuted with the unforgettable 1500 Multicarga , and almost a decade later, it continued its legacy with the 125 Multicarga . Both were developed based on sedans and could carry up to 600 kilos in their cargo beds.
Where the Italian brand does make its debut is in the midsize truck segment, one of the most competitive in the country and one in which the Argentine automotive industry has a vast track record.
The Fiat Titano is the first of three midsize pickups that Stellantis (an automotive giant that includes Fiat, among other brands, under its umbrella) will manufacture at the Cordoba industrial complex. The other two models have not yet been officially announced, although the family is expected to include the Peugeot Landtrek and the Ram 1200.
The Titano was first exhibited in public during the summer actions.
The project, for which 385 million dollars were invested, also contemplates the development of auto parts and the production of the 2.2-liter Multijet turbodiesel engine with 200 horsepower , starting in 2027. This engine is currently produced in Italy and is the one that equips the national pickup.
To achieve this, Stellantis will add a total of 1,800 employees, 50% of whom will be women.
To understand the origins of this Titano, we must go back to 2017, when Peugeot reached an agreement with Chinese manufacturer Changan to produce a midsize pickup truck. Thus, the Landtrek pickup truck from the Lion brand was born.
Four years later, Stellantis was created, the conglomerate that owns the Fiat, Peugeot, Jeep, Citroën, DS, and RAM brands in our region. It was then that the Italian company saw the opportunity to offer a new model to expand its pickup truck offering.
The Fiat Titano is produced at the same facility where the Cronos is manufactured. Production is at a rate of eight units per hour (28 for the sedan).
Using the Landtrek base assembled at the Uruguayan Nordex plant (Grupo Antelo), Fiat made some adjustments to the suspension to present its pickup truck on Brazilian soil.
Overall, the Titano's styling is quite attractive. It's not the largest truck in the category across all sizes, but it does outperform some others in some ways. That's why it looks wide, strong, and very well-built.
The Titano offered in Brazil only comes in a double-cab body style, and that's the configuration it will be launched in our market. It measures 5,330 mm long, 1,963 mm wide, 1,897 mm high (with roof bars), and has a 3,180 mm wheelbase.
It weighs 2,150 kilos and has one of the largest payload capacities, at 1,020 kg, and a towing capacity of 3,500 kilos. It also has the widest cargo bed in the segment (1,630 mm x 1,600 mm).
The national pickup has several changes compared to the one previously produced in Uruguay. As mentioned, the engine is the 2.2-liter turbodiesel with 200 hp and 450 Nm of torque (not the 2.2-liter with 180 hp and 400 Nm); it also features a new eight-speed ZF automatic transmission (in addition to the six-speed manual), four-wheel disc brakes, and new suspension and instrument panel, among other highlights.
The national pickup has a 200 HP 2.2 turbodiesel engine, which can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The manual transmission versions will have 4x2 and 4x4 traction systems, while the automatic version will only have 4x4 (with rear differential lock).
Although the composition of the range sold here is still unknown, it is worth noting that in the neighboring country it is offered with three trim levels: Endurance (which can be manual or automatic), Volcano and Ranch (these two, only with automatic transmission).
