Volkswagen launches the ID. Cross, an electric alternative to the T-Cross, due to debut in 2026.

MONACO – In addition to the ID. Polo, alongside the sporty GTI version, Volkswagen also presented the ID. Cross at the IAA Mobility in Munich. This new compact electric SUV, currently unveiled as a concept, is expected to go into production in summer 2026. It represents the zero-emission alternative to the T-Cross, with very similar dimensions: 4,161 mm long, 1,839 mm wide, 1,588 mm high, and with a 2,601 mm wheelbase, its dimensions and proportions are designed for urban use.

The design of the ID. Cross is inspired by Volkswagen's “Pure Positive” philosophy and is characterised by clean lines and a front defined by three-dimensional IQ.Light LED matrix headlights, accompanied by light strips that cross the nose.

Inside, the vehicle offers a spacious cabin for five, finished with soft-touch materials, with a 450-liter trunk plus a 25-liter "frunk" front compartment. The dashboard features an 11-inch digital instrument display and a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen with advanced voice commands and physical buttons for some functions. The floating center console integrates wireless charging for two smartphones, while the ID. Light ambient lighting creates the right atmosphere in any driving situation. For maximum versatility, the rear seats fold down to create a completely flat loading surface.

Developed on the MEB+ modular electric drive platform, which will feature a new generation of software starting next year that will enhance its functionality and efficiency, the ID Cross features a 155 kW (211 hp) front-mounted powertrain and reaches a top speed of 175 km/h. The estimated range is 420 km according to the WLTP cycle, and the vehicle can tow up to 1,200 kg.

Produced at the Volkswagen Group's Spanish plant in Pamplona, its price tag is expected to be just above €25,000, the reference price of the ID. Polo.
