The Polestar 7 will be the brand's first car to be produced in Europe, in Košice, Slovakia.

ROME - Polestar's expansion continues at full speed and adds a new step in the diversification of its production network, expanding production for the first time in Europe. The Swedish company controlled by Volvo and Geely (also the largest shareholder of Volvo itself) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Volvo Cars for the production of Polestar 7 in Košice, Slovakia, in view of the launch of the new premium compact SUV scheduled for 2028. Polestar 7 will be developed according to the strategy recently announced by the company, with the use of architectures within the Geely Holding Group to which the premium brand belongs. The car will be based on a Volvo technology platform, benefiting from the sharing of group components, cell-to-body technology with next-generation batteries and advanced performance, as well as new electric motors developed internally. Naturally, there will be specific customizations to guarantee the driving experience and performance characteristics typical of each Polestar model.
“Collaborating with Volvo Cars on the development and production of the Polestar 7 in Europe is a unique opportunity that will strengthen our presence in the European market,” said Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar. “Our strategy to use the Group’s architectures as the basis for future models gives us access to the latest and best technologies in an efficient way. With its distinctive design and sporty driving experience, the Polestar 7 will raise the bar in the premium compact SUV segment.”
“The collaboration with Polestar on the development and production of the Polestar 7 demonstrates how Volvo Cars and Polestar continue to leverage synergies to deliver premium vehicles, developed for their respective customer segments,” added Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars. Construction of the Volvo Cars plant in Košice began in 2023 and the site has excellent logistics connections to European markets and a strong local supplier base. (Maurilio Rigo)
