ROME – After a subdued summer, the Italian car market returned to growth in September, with 126,679 registrations, representing a 4.1% increase over the same month last year (121,720 registrations). However, since January, the market has remained in the red, with 1,167,437 units versus 1,204,367 (-2.9%), suggesting that more time is needed before we can truly talk about recovery. Here are the top ten for the month.
1. Fiat Panda – 7,671 units

With 7,671 registered units, the Panda confirms its position as the market leader. Compact dimensions and great versatility, with a trunk of up to 870 liters, are the strengths of the model offered with a 1.0 mild hybrid petrol engine producing 70 hp, making liveliness and efficiency its key features. The price list starts at €15,950.
2. Jeep Avenger – 4,857 units

The most compact car in the Jeep range never goes unnoticed. With its iconic seven-slot grille and adventurous design, it's popular for its unique style and off-road capability. It offers a range to suit every need: from the 100 hp 1.2-liter mild hybrid turbo petrol version, to the 136 hp 4xe plug-in hybrid variant, up to the 115 kW (156 hp) electric model. The entry-level model costs €25,200.
3. Dacia Sandero – 4,138 units

The Sandero's secret is simple yet effective: large-capacity content and small-capacity costs. Available in the Streetway sedan and Stepway crossover versions, it offers spacious interiors and a generous trunk, all complemented by an engine range that ranges from the essential 65 hp 1.0-liter petrol engine, to the dual-fuel LPG version, to the 101 hp 1.0-liter turbo. The attractive starting price is €13,950.
4. Toyota Yaris Cross – 3,087 units

The Yaris's high-wheel variant is increasingly making a name for itself, boasting a full hybrid system producing up to 131 hp, combined with all-wheel drive. Its low fuel consumption—just 5 liters per 100 km in the WLTP cycle—and a price tag starting at €28,750 make it one of the smartest choices in the compact SUV segment.
5. Toyota Yaris – 2,780 units

Another confirmation of the compact hybrid par excellence, now with a 92 hp 1.5-liter full hybrid petrol engine, capable of offering very low real-world fuel consumption. The sporty GR version with 280 hp guarantees intense driving excitement, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. Its price list starts at €24,550.
6. Dacia Duster – 2,776 units

The compact SUV with its simple yet solid character reaffirms its position in the top ten. Petrol, LPG, and mild hybrid engines with power outputs ranging from 101 to 131 hp are available, with front- or all-wheel drive. The entry-level price starts at €19,900.
7. Volkswagen T-Roc – 2,588 units

Robust and refined, the T-Roc offers petrol engines from 115 to 150 hp as well as a sporty R version. Cutting-edge technology and a refined interior make it attractive to those looking for an SUV suitable for any occasion. The entry-level price for the range is €33,900.
8. Fiat Grande Panda – 2,526 units

This is the largest and most technologically advanced version that completes the Panda family, which recently hit the roads and is already a success, especially among younger and trendier drivers. The entry-level model features a 1.2-liter mild-hybrid gasoline engine with 100 hp, and hybrid and electric variants complete the range with a starting price of €16,900.
9. Citroen C3 – 2,427 units

The French car stands out for its distinctive style and compact dimensions, making it extremely comfortable even in city traffic. It features a 110 hp PureTech petrol engine. Its price starts at €16,400.
10. Toyota Aygo X – 2,227 units

Small but with character, the Aygo X focuses on minimum bulk and maximum agility with its 72 hp 1.0 petrol engine. The full hybrid version is on the way, expected to enrich the range from the beginning of 2026. The starting price is 18,900 euros.
