Subaru accelerates its electric transition with three new models: Solterra, Uncharted and E-Outback

BRUSSELS – Subaru has just inaugurated a new era in its history in Europe. With the Brussels premiere of three all-electric models that lay the foundation for its future zero-emission range, the Pleiades brand reaffirms its commitment to the energy transition, without sacrificing the distinctive features that have made it unique among mainstream manufacturers: all-wheel drive, active and passive safety, off-road capability, and a robust design built to last. Following the Solterra—the brand's first electric SUV, launched in 2022 in collaboration with Toyota (its "twin" is the bZ4X)—the Japanese manufacturer is now relaunching a range of vehicles developed on a new generation of the modular e-Subaru Global Platform, updated to accommodate larger battery capacity, a more powerful powertrain, and even more sophisticated and effective dynamic control systems.

The first step is the new MY26 Solterra, a restyling of the current model. The exterior design has been refined, with a more "tech" front and a completely redesigned interior, dominated by a 14-inch touchscreen and new digital instrumentation. But it's under the body that the real leap occurs: the two e-Axle motors now deliver 252 kW (338 hp, a 58% increase over the previous model's 214 hp) and are capable of a range of over 500 km thanks to the 73.1 kWh net battery. Towing capacity has also been increased, doubling to 1,500 kg, while DC charging allows charging from 10 to 80% in just 30 minutes, even at -10°C, thanks to efficient pre-conditioning.

Arriving in the second half of 2026, the new Solterra will be joined by the Subaru Uncharted, a new and ambitious compact electric SUV (based on the Toyota CH-R+), designed to combine urban versatility with true explorer attitude. The new SUV will be available in three versions: two front-wheel drive models with 211 hp and a 77 kWh battery (Long Range, 585 km of range) or 57.7 kWh (445 km theoretical), and the top-of-the-line AWD model with a dual 252 kW (338 hp) motor, 1,500 kg of towing capacity, 0-100 km in 5.0 seconds and a 77 kWh battery for a range of 470 km. All models offer a 22 kW AC charger as standard and effective downhill regeneration, managed by advanced software that regulates torque between the front and rear axles to ensure maximum traction. The 210 mm ground clearance, the two-mode X-Mode system and the 5.5 metre turning circle complete a technical profile capable of performing both on and off the asphalt.

The third model to debut is perhaps the most emblematic for fans of the brand: the new E-Outback, a fully electric reinterpretation of the model that pioneered the concept of a crossover station wagon by thirty years. Longer and more spacious than the Solterra—the trunk can hold up to four large suitcases—the E-Outback is powered by a 74.7 kWh battery, delivers 280 kW (375 hp), and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. It also has a towing capacity of 1,500 kg, while a ground clearance of 210 mm, a predictive all-wheel drive system, and a 21% reduction in body roll ensure excellent performance on all types of terrain. It boasts a wealth of safety features, including technologies inspired by the EyeSight system (such as the Emergency Driving Stop function), while the aesthetics combine robustness and aerodynamics, with 18- or 20-inch wheels and integrated roof bars. All three models will arrive on the European market by the first half of 2026 (the Solterra in the second), representing a strategic turning point for the brand, which will continue to offer internal combustion engines with naturally aspirated boxer engines. Prices have not yet been announced.
