Skoda Vision O: What the electric station wagon of the future will look like

The Skoda brand has linked its image to the idea of a spacious, comfortable, solid, and practical family car. For these very reasons, the Octavia station wagon has proven to be one of its most successful models: designed for long-distance travel, it features an exceptionally spacious trunk to satisfy all needs. But what is the future of a body style that now seems to have given way to SUVs? The Vision O concept reveals this, which interprets the concept of an electric station wagon in an extremely modern and technological way. The production model derived from this car is expected no sooner than five years from now.
The design philosophy applied to this Vision O is that of Modern Solid , which debuted on the Elroq and which we also saw on the Epiq show car. Here, the front is projected downwards and characterised by a black outline surrounding the grille, while an LED strip tops it. The lights are very thin and accentuate the feeling of cleanliness. The sides are free of superfluous lines and highlight the sleek forms. The roof appears to be suspended above the car and only the "fin" of the B-pillar seems to support it. The rear doors open against the wind, a rarely used solution that is unlikely to be replicated on the production model. The tailgate features the same black motif as the front, while the T-shaped headlights are similar to those seen on the small Epiq. The Vision O is a large car, with a length of 4.85 metres and a trunk that, as usual, is particularly large and can hold up to 650 litres with the rear seats up.
The Vision O is equipped with cutting-edge technologies and features a cabin designed down to the smallest detail to offer maximum space, high comfort, and excellent ergonomics. A full-width screen at the base of the windshield , called Horizon Display , makes its debut, replacing the dashboard and providing all the necessary information. The infotainment system is instead enclosed in a large vertical display with computer-like functionality. The architecture allows for a low floor, with the batteries housed in the frame and a completely flat bottom that favors comfort and on-board space for all passengers. The controls for controlling on-board functions integrate physical buttons, touchscreens, and voice commands, offering maximum ease of use to users.
One of the most notable features of Skoda cars is the presence of small measures to improve ergonomics and the use of interior space. The Vision O concept car is also full of these solutions: hidden umbrella holders in each door, magnetic phone charging pads on the backrests of the front seats, removable items such as lights and a portable speaker, and storage compartments for cables, a first aid kit, and waste in the trunk.
The concept's very name, Vision O, stems from the concept of circularity. Most of the materials used in the interior are plant-based or recycled and are fully recyclable. The 3D-printed headrests, with their unique hollow texture and a single material, stand out, allowing them to be completely recycled and reused.
