Renault Group reports slight sales increase, bucking the industry's crisis trend.

Renault Group reports slight sales increase, bucking the industry's crisis trend.

Renault Group sales remained stable in the first six months of the year. While the stock price fell from over €50 per share in February to just over €30, which also declined following the news of CEO Luca De Meo's departure, sales from January to June brought a wave of optimism to the French group. Worldwide, Renault Group posted a slight increase of 1.3% compared to 2024, selling 1,169,773 vehicles. In Europe, despite a passenger car market down 1.0%, sales increased by 5.4% to 708,106 vehicles. Renault's European sales, however, were negative, starting with commercial vehicles, which saw a 29% decline in the first half of 2025, compared to a 13% market decline. Despite a 3.7% decline in passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, Renault rose one spot in Europe, taking second place with 394,278 passenger vehicles (+8.4%) and a 6.7% market share, positioning the Clio as the best-selling car. As recently announced, Renault closed the first half of 2025 with revenue up 2.5% to €27.6 billion. The French carmaker now expects an operating margin of approximately 6.5% of sales for the full year 2025, compared to the previous forecast of 7%, and free cash flow between €1.0 billion and €1.5 billion, compared to the previous forecast of over €2 billion.

Renault reported 2.7% global sales growth compared to the first half of 2024, with 808,413 vehicles sold worldwide. Outside Europe, the brand led by new interim CEO Duncan Minto grew 16.3% compared to the first half of 2024, in a market that grew 4.7%. In Latin America, sales increased by 24%. In Brazil, sales increased by 8.8% and in Argentina, by 96.7%. Renault ranks first in Colombia, with a market share of 14.6%. In Morocco, sales increased by 48%. In South Korea, sales increased by 150%. Renault continues to advance its electrification strategy with two engine options. Electric vehicle sales grew by 57% (still far from previous estimates) in a European market that saw a 23% increase, thanks in particular to the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, the best-selling B-segment electric vehicle in Europe, with approximately 49,000 units sold since launch. Renault reaffirmed its second-place position in the European hybrid market with growth of approximately 36%, with its E-Tech Full Hybrid technology now accounting for over 41% of Renault passenger car sales. In the C-segments and above, which account for 40.1% of the sales mix in the first half of 2025 (+0.4 points), but especially in the C-SUV and D-SUV segments, the first six months saw a 52% increase compared to the first half of 2024.

In the first half of 2025, Dacia's global sales totaled 356,084 units, down slightly (-0.7%) compared to the first half of 2024, as the Duster is now sold under the Renault brand in Turkey. However, it maintains a 4.1% market share of the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market. In Europe, Dacia's passenger car sales increased by 1.1% to 308,957 registrations and a market share of 4.5% (up 0.1 points). The Romanian brand remains in ninth place in the passenger car market and 10th place in the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market. On the electrification front, Dacia recorded 23.9% of registrations with electrified engines in the first half of 2025, an increase of 14.7 points compared to the first half of 2024. Hybrid vehicles accounted for 17.6% of sales, an increase of 12.1 points, mainly thanks to the success of the hybrid version of the Duster. Spring sales, amounting to 19,452 vehicles, grew by 71%, bringing the share of electric vehicles to 6.3% of total Dacia sales (+2.6 points compared to the first half of 2024). With 151,948 vehicles sold worldwide in the first half of 2025, the Dacia Sandero remains the best-selling model in Europe this year (passenger cars) across all channels. Sandero has been the best-selling car to private individuals in Europe since 2017. With 108,510 units sold worldwide, Dacia Duster remains the top-selling SUV to private individuals in Europe. The third-generation Duster has attracted around 200,000 orders since its launch a year ago.

Alpine continues to grow in the first half of 2025 with 5,015 registrations, an 85% increase compared to the first half of 2024. This growth is driven by the 3,699 A290s sold, derived from the Renault 5 E-tech. The compact electric model is joined by the 1,181 A110s registered, the only internal combustion model produced by the Dieppe brand. Alpine has confirmed the opening of 200 Alpine Stores by the end of 2025, where the new electric A390 will also be sold.
