Porsche reaches a historic milestone with its top model

When it comes to Porsche, few models spring to mind as quickly as the Macan. The compact D-segment SUV has been in production since 2013 and has come a long way. So much so that in recent days, the Leipzig plant celebrated the production of its one millionth model . A car that has been truly enormously successful, so much so that 82,795 were delivered to customers in 2024 alone.
Gerd Rupp, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Leipzig GmbH, commented on the milestone: "The Macan is inextricably linked to Leipzig. Like no other model, it stands for growth and change: the compact SUV symbolizes both the expansion of the center into a full-scale production facility between 2011 and 2013 and the plant's entry into the era of electric mobility." The Macan has enabled the Leipzig plant to expand since 2011. Previously, the German city only assembled cars. However, thanks to some renovations, the factory has also added a body shop and a paint shop. This has created 1,500 new jobs.
A bright futureBut that's not all, because starting in 2024, the second series of the well-known SUV also went into production, this time with a fully electrified drivetrain . This has allowed the Leipzig plant to further upgrade and look to the future with confidence. Today, in fact, this factory produces three different drivetrain lines: petrol, hybrid, and electric , with great production flexibility.
To celebrate such a significant anniversary, a Macan 4 was created in a striking Frozen Blue metallic color. The interior, however, is in black-chalk leather, while the adaptive sports seats and the heated GT leather steering wheel are a sporty option. The panoramic sunroof, which allows the SUV to blend in with its surroundings, is also noteworthy.
Thanks to an overboost output of up to 408 hp, the Macan 4 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds and quickly reach a top speed of 220 km/h. Equipped with a battery with a gross storage capacity of 100 kWh, it has an 800-volt (DC) charging system and reaches a maximum power of 270 kW, giving it a range of 612 km. It can also go from 10 to 80 percent in around 21 minutes .
This vehicle was delivered to the Porsche Experience Center in Leipzig and directly into the hands of the customer. The factory collection also includes a test drive on the factory circuit with an identical vehicle. Here, you can familiarize yourself with the new car under the guidance of an instructor and test it in extreme situations.
A pearl for PorscheThe Leipzig plant opened in 2002 as Porsche's second production facility after the main one in Stuttgart. Around 5,000 employees work there , contributing to the production of the Macan and Panamera models. The Cayenne was also produced there until 2017, and the Carrera GT from 2003 to 2006. The plant has received numerous awards, including the Lean and Green Management Award in 2021 and Factory of the Year in 2023.
