Although Marc Marquez has finished the race at Motegi, there are still five rounds to go. The Asian back-to-back will feature Ducati riders, who are also the clear favorites at the Mandalika track. Pecco's fans hope to see their favorite battle it out against the new world champion. After 182 days, Bagnaia has returned to winning a Grand Prix and, after 315, a SR. The braking that made him a legend was revisited in Japan after the favorable Misano tests. The Piedmontese rider finally seems to be back to being the fast rider of past seasons, but the final test will come in Indonesia.
For Pecco Bagnaia, the Motegi weekend represented much more than a hat trick: it represented the achievement of a peak performance he's always pursued throughout 2025. Marc Márquez's victories certainly didn't help him psychologically. The two riders started from the same base, but the developments of the Desmosedici GP25 favored the Spaniard in the middle part of the championship. The riding style of the number 93 masked the problems of the Red bike on many occasions. It also confirmed that the former Honda rider's talent had never faded, but he didn't have the right bike to shine. The move to Ducati was essential to return to competing at the highest levels. The Borgo Panigale manufacturer achieved an important goal: having two competitive champions on its team, with a Desmosedici suited to their characteristics.
Curiosities of the Mandalika roundPecco has already won once in Indonesia, the year of his last world title. In 2024, however, Jorge Martin prevailed. Martin had a serious accident in the last round at Motegi due to an extreme entry into Turn 1 of the Sprint Race. The former number 1 rider broke his collarbone and will not be present on the track, but the Noale-based manufacturer has decided not to replace him with another rider. It will all fall on Marco Bezzecchi , who was injured during the last round precisely because of the contact with Martin.
Honda appears to have regained its competitiveness and, with Mir, could secure further success in the final part of the season. In Indonesia, KTM will also have to be considered, having won the opening round in 2022 with Oliveira. It's unlikely we'll see a Yamaha in the top spots. The Mandalika track is approximately 4.3 kilometers long and boasts 17 turns. The layout offers a mix of fast straights, technical sections, and elevation changes.
