MotoE: The championship will be suspended at the end of the 2025 season.

The time has come for MotoE to say goodbye. The 100% electric motorcycle series, launched in 2019, will be suspended at the end of the 2025 season. The decision was made jointly by the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) and Dorna Sports , the company that holds the commercial rights to the MotoE World Championship . As announced in the press release, MotoE has not achieved its objectives, such as engaging two-wheel enthusiasts throughout its seven seasons of operation . Furthermore, the market for high-performance electric motorcycles has not developed as expected by the FIM and Dorna Sports. This decision is also part of the new plans for the MotoE World Championship, which, starting in 2027 , will develop increasingly efficient combustion engines, using 100% non-fossil fuels.
"Despite the efforts made together with Dorna to promote this innovative category," said Jorge Viegas , President of the FIM, "we have not achieved either our objectives or those of the sector associated with high-performance electric motorcycles." From 2019 to 2022, Energica Ego Corsa machines were used in the races, while from 2023, Ducati V21L machines were used. The 2025 championship still has two rounds before its conclusion: Misano this weekend, with the races on September 13, and then the grand finale in Portimao on November 8. The title race is open with five Italian riders in the top five overall, with Mattia Casadei and Lorenzo Baldassarri currently tied for the lead with equal points. “Thanks to all the riders and teams, to Ducati, to our partners and to all the staff who have made MotoE possible since its inception in 2019,” commented Carmelo Ezpeleta , CEO of Dorna. “Thank you for accompanying us on this precious journey.”
