BYD's new headquarters in Milan will also house its European Design Center.

BYD's new headquarters in Milan will also house its European Design Center.

MILAN – BYD has a new headquarters. Entirely Italian, in the heart of Milan, just steps from Piazza Gae Aulenti. This true hub will be fully operational by the end of September. It will also house the European Style Center, with an open space accommodating over 50 workstations and a virtual room.

With a market share of 1.2%, BYD aims to open over 100 stores throughout Italy by the end of 2025, in addition to five showrooms for Denza, the group's premium brand.

"Management decision-making was made within 48 hours," explained Alessandro Grosso, BYD's Country Manager for Italy, "with budget approval. Engineering changes were made within five months. BYD is a company where speed is a key factor. Just think that within 24 hours, a modification was made to the trunk of the Denza Z9 GT to accommodate a golf club."

A tech company engaged not only in the automotive sector, but also in electronics, renewable and sustainable energy production, and transportation. BYD currently offers fully electric (it is China's largest manufacturer of zero-emission vehicles), plug-in hybrids (with the DM-i super hybrid), and hybrid vehicles. From the Dolphin Surf, a battery-powered city car with Level 2 autonomous driving as standard, to the Seal 6 DM-i Touring, which will be presented in the coming hours at the IAA Mobility in Munich.

A broad, global offering, customized to the different geographic areas. "South America is different from Asia-Pacific and even from Europe. Just as it is from Africa," Alessandro Grosso emphasized, "BYD quickly realized, in its expansion process, that a European and a South American range are necessary to ensure customers have the right segment, the right driving setup for their specific needs. Drivers in China operate in a different context than European customers. The same goes for design. In the coming months, a further regionalization process will be underway, already underway with the first European plant in Budapest, with a local R&D area capable of producing vehicles for Europe in the most important segments."

Four new previews are planned in the next four months and, by 2026, Dm-i technology will be available in the most important segments of our market in Italy.
