Unusual. This toaster manufacturer wants to design a car that would become your second living room.

Long confined to household appliances and consumer electronics, Sharp is now venturing into the automotive industry. In collaboration with Foxconn, the manufacturer is presenting its first electric model, the LDK+, which is expected to be unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show.
The concept: a compact urban vehicle, resembling a mini-space or a "kei-car", which combines mobility and a domestic ecosystem.
An interior designed like a living roomThe LDK+ is more than just an electric vehicle; it redefines the boundary between car and home. The interior is designed like a living space. The doors slide, there are no pillars, and the front seats can swivel towards the rear bench to create the feeling of being in your living room.
Sharp explains that, when parked, the vehicle can become a "movie theater or a teleworking space".
A connected car… at homeBut the real innovation lies in the home automation and energy integration. The LDK+ uses Sharp's AIoT platform to connect the car to household appliances: washing machine, air purifier, TV…
Even better: thanks to bidirectional charging (V2H – Vehicle to Home), the car can store energy during off-peak hours and then supply it to the home during peak consumption periods. This solution is particularly appreciated in a country like Japan, which is prone to extreme weather and therefore power outages.
