The European car market is undergoing a major transformation, driven by the rise of electrified engines. 100% electric remains a goal for European legislators, but in a world where the customer always decides what type of car they want to drive, the battery-powered car model is only progressing in stages. However, the price and performance (range, charging time, etc.) of zero-emission vehicles do not correspond to all needs or all budgets. While waiting for the arrival of new generations of electric cars, which will have to go further, such as charging faster and costing less, transition technologies have been implemented. Hybrid vehicles, whether rechargeable (PHEV, for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle ) or not, which already represented more than 40% of registrations in 2024, will continue to grow.
According to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), electric car sales increased by nearly 24% in Europe in the first quarter of 2025, compared to the same period the previous year.
