MotoGP. San Marino Grand Prix: Bezzecchi surprise poleman, Quartararo on the front row

Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi took pole position for the San Marino Grand Prix on Saturday at Misano, Italy. Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), who finished third, will start from the front row.
Undisputed MotoGP world championship leader Marc Marquez (Ducati) was once again pushed around on Saturday morning during qualifying for the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano (Italy). Uncomfortable on this circuit, the Catalan, 4th , was unable to do anything against the Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia), a surprise poleman on home soil.
The Italian rider took first place in qualifying at the very end of the session, ahead of the younger of the Marquez brothers, Alex (Ducati-Gresini) and the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).
“Starting in front is crucial”"Starting in front is crucial, so this first place is very important because it's a circuit with good grip where it's difficult to make a difference," Bezzecchi stressed to Canal+.
Despite everything, Marc Marquez remains the favorite for both the sprint race (this Saturday, 3 p.m.) and the Grand Prix (this Sunday, 2 p.m.). In June in the Netherlands and in August in Austria , the six-time MotoGP world champion started in fourth position and yet won both races of the weekend.
Quartararo "didn't expect it"In great form for several weeks , Fabio Quartararo initially had to fight to get out of Q1, then excelled at the wheel of his Yamaha, which is far from being the best bike on this circuit. "I didn't expect this position, but especially this time! But I felt very good this (Saturday) morning, and as we were struggling with the electronics, I took almost everything off, so without help it wasn't easy," declared the Nice driver to Canal+.

Marc Marquez's Ducati teammate, Italy's Francesco Bagnaia, only set the eighth fastest time, his worst qualifying result at Misano in the premier MotoGP class. The other Frenchman, Johann Zarco (Honda-LCR), also missed qualifying and will only start in 19th position on the grid, his worst result of the season.
