Automotive. What are the best electric and hybrid cars of the year?

Automotive. What are the best electric and hybrid cars of the year?

It was after 48 hours of workshops, evaluations and tests that the 32 jurors representing the diversity of French media brought together by the Association des Médias Auto et Moto (AMAM) awarded, on June 5, 2025, the fourth eTrophies rewarding the best electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars presented, launched or marketed during the year 2024. From the mini city car to the large SUV, including sedans and even an electric roadster, no fewer than 26 different electric or electrified models were presented at the competition this year.

How do eTrophies work?

Each vehicle was evaluated in its preferred environment. For example, family vehicles designed for long-distance travel were subjected to journeys consisting mainly of national, departmental and expressways, but also incorporating urban and suburban developments, during which the judges were able to assess the design, interior, ergonomics, comfort, habitability, road performance and, of course, the management of the electrical part of each vehicle.

Before its final evaluation by the jurors, each vehicle will have been tested over 400 to 500 kilometers representative of its average use.

Electrification is underway

While 100% electric doesn't yet convince everyone, hybridization is becoming the norm on the French market and more generally "electrified vehicles" as Nicolas Heidet, journalist and President of AMAM, points out: "Even if the French automobile market has been more than gloomy lately, the electrification of ranges remains a major challenge for car manufacturers. For 4 years now, the AMAM eTrophies have become an unmissable event, both for the car manufacturers who take part in the confrontation, and for the French media. AMAM intends to continue to monitor and encourage as widely as possible the progress made by car manufacturers in terms of eco-responsible mobility."

In addition, the Coup de foudre prize awarded by AM-AM members alone was awarded jointly to the new MG Cyberster electric roadster, presented at the competition in its two-wheel drive version, and to the Alpine A290.
