Automobile. Smart #2: the big comeback of the two-seater electric city car

Smart will unveil a fully electric two-seater city car in late 2026 to replace the legendary Fortwo. A return to the roots of the urban icon, born in 1998.
After launching the smart #1 (SUV), #3 (compact), and #5 (SUV), the brand confirms the development of the smart #2. This two-seater, fully electric model will capture the spirit of the fortwo launched 27 years ago, while incorporating the latest technologies.
A car designed for EuropeDesigned by Mercedes-Benz and produced in China with the Geely Group, the smart #2 is primarily aimed at major European cities like Paris and Rome. It is designed to be compact, practical, and perfectly suited to traffic and parking constraints.
A reaffirmed identity"The smart #2 will shape a new era of individual mobility," says Dirk Adelmann, CEO of smart Europe. With this launch, the brand aims to demonstrate that it can cover all needs, from small urban models to electric SUVs, without losing its DNA.
