Automobile. Hyundai NEXO: an electric SUV that runs on hydrogen

At the Seoul Mobility Show in South Korea, Hyundai unveiled the new NEXO, an electric SUV powered by a fuel cell, thus emitting no exhaust fumes.
The Asian brand reaffirms its commitment to becoming a provider of smart solutions across the entire mobility spectrum.
A new fuel cell systemThe South Korean manufacturer has announced the optimization of a new electric motor, whose power has been increased from 132 kW to 190 kW, while the battery has been increased from 40 to 80 kW.
It claims a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds, a significant improvement over the 9.2 seconds of its predecessor.
A range of more than 700 km after refueling in just 5 minutes is highlighted, while the hydrogen tank sees its capacity increased from 6.33 to 6.69 kg.
Security has clearly been placed at the heart of NEXO's development.
With its 9 airbags, a multi-frame architecture and its advanced driver assistance systems to avoid collisions, the brand aims to achieve the best scores in crash tests.
Additionally, its bodywork offers crash protection designed to absorb and disperse impact energy. It is longer and taller than its predecessor, creating greater comfort and a spacious interior.
A new “Art of Steel” designThe new NEXO adopts Hyundai's new "Art of Steel" design, a derivative of the October 2024 INITIUM concept.
The steel reflects the vehicle's strength and robustness, reinforcing the sense of safety. It will be available in six colors: Creamy White, Phantom Black, Amazon Gray, Ocean Indigo Mate, Ecotronic Gray, and the latest, "Goyo Copper," directly inspired by Korea's natural and cultural heritage.
Derived from the Korean term “Goyo” meaning “serene” or “peaceful,” the three-layer paint system creates a color-changing effect depending on the angle of the light.
