Automobile. How is the used car market doing in France?

With nearly 377,000 registrations, the used car market grew slightly in August (+0.1%). The French are mainly turning to older vehicles, while recent models are in sharp decline.

New and electric in retreat

The new-build market saw a slight rebound in August (+2.2%) but remains in the red compared to 2024 (-7.1%) and remains very far from its pre-Covid level (-32% compared to 2019).

In terms of engines, the share of electrified models slowed slightly, to 14.7% compared to 15.5% in July.
