First lesson from this Bridgestone x OpinionWay survey: a reassuring reality, in fact, a large majority of motorists adopt preventive measures essential to their safety and that of their passengers.

Do the French check the condition of their tires before setting off?

According to this survey, eight out of ten French people say they check the condition of their tires before leaving for their summer vacation. This safety precaution has become automatic for a large majority of motorists.

The French like to go on holiday with their car and are careful before setting off.

53% of them even say they check their tires before each long journey.

Do the French know how to change a tire?

It's every driver's nightmare, especially when the car is loaded for a summer trip. In the event of a flat tire, 26% of French people surveyed would call a breakdown service to change the tire.

20% of them say they would use a puncture repair kit, while 11% have run-flat tires (which allow them to continue driving after a puncture).

What are the essential checks before departure?

Tire manufacturer Bridgestone is taking the opportunity to remind everyone of the rules to follow with the big holiday departure:

  • Check the pressure and condition of the tires (including the spare tire).
  • Check that the puncture kit is working properly.
  • Adjust the windshield washer fluid level.
  • Clean and maintain the air conditioning.
  • Check the fastening of boxes, trailers, bicycles.
  • Bring water, snacks, games for children and suitable clothing (closed shoes, light clothing).
