What the Teruel Civil Guard discovered about two drivers who exceeded the speed limit by more than 100 km/h

Some drivers think that in the most sparsely populated areas of Spain, such as the province of Teruel, the Civil Guard doesn't carry out speed checks . But the truth is that they do, and proof of this are the two vehicles intercepted on the weekend of September 20 and 21 , traveling more than 100 km/h over the speed limit .
Specifically, one of them was stopped on the A-1512 near Teruel city, at 190 km/h, while the other was detected at 202 km/h on the N-211 , within the municipality of Monreal del Campo, according to Diario de Teruel. Furthermore, the Benemérita officers had several surprises when they stopped both vehicles .
What did the officers detect once they stopped the vehicles? After identifying the drivers, they were tested for alcohol and drugs. In one case, the driver tested positive for THC, pending confirmation by an authorized laboratory.
The second driver tested positive for alcohol, with 0.93 mg/l and 0.87 mg/l of breath in his breath, respectively. Ultimately, the two individuals were brought before the court for the alleged commission of two offenses against road safety, classified under Article 379 of the Criminal Code.
Criminal consequences of these crimesSpecifically, both drivers are alleged to have committed the crime specified in Article 379.1 for driving a motor vehicle "at a speed exceeding eighty kilometers per hour on an interurban road."
As well as the offense described in Article 379.2 for driving a motor vehicle "under the influence of toxic drugs, narcotics, psychotropic substances, or alcoholic beverages." In any case, those who drive with an alcohol level in exhaled air exceeding 0.60 milligrams per liter or with a blood alcohol level exceeding 1.2 grams per liter will be sentenced to these penalties.
Specifically, both crimes stipulate a punishment of imprisonment of three to six months or a fine of six to twelve months or community service of thirty-one to ninety days , in addition to "deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for a period of more than one and up to four years."
How do speeding fines evolve on a 90 km/h speed limit road? The table included in Annex IV of the Traffic Law shows the fines and points deducted based on speeding. For a road with a speed limit of 90 km/h, the established rates are as follows:
- From 91 to 120 km/h, 100 euros and no points.
- From 121 to 140 km/h , 300 euros and two points.
- From 141 to 150 km/h , 400 euros and four points.
- From 151 to 160 km/h , 500 euros and six points.
- Over 161 km/h, 600 euros and six points.
