The location of the new road radar that the DGT has just activated in Valencia.

Every year, the DGT, under the guise of reducing the number of traffic fatalities in Spain, increases the number of radars deployed to detect drivers exceeding the speed limit, as this is one of the main causes of fatal accidents.
Therefore, at the beginning of 2025, Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska announced the installation of 122 devices in several batches throughout the year, the last of which was activated on August 1. In total, 32 radars came into operation on that date: 7 fixed and 25 section radars, including one in the province of Valencia .
Where is this new device located? This section radar is located on the V-30 , a fast-track ring road in the city of Valencia between the port of the capital of the Turia and the A-7. Specifically, it is located between kilometers 4.65 and 8.85 in the descending direction towards Alicante, and is limited to 100 km/h.
It's also worth noting that until August 31, this section of road will only issue warnings to drivers who violate the law. This means that it won't begin issuing fines and deducting points from violators until September.
At what speed will this section radar be triggered?During its first year of operation, said device will be governed by the provisions of Table 1 of Annex XII of Order ICT/155/2020 , of February 7, which regulates the state metrological control of certain measuring instruments.
Therefore, in accordance with this regulation, the Valencian device will have a margin of error of ±3% during its conformity assessment phase , as its speed limit is above 100 km/h. Finally, once it has been in operation for more than a year, the radar will have a margin of error of ±5%.
Operation of a section radarThe DGT clarifies that these are not "radars" in the strict sense. Instead, they are described as a system of cameras that continuously record the passage of vehicles, identifying the license plate at both the entry and exit points of the controlled section. A computer then cross-references the matching license plates, calculates the time spent, and determines the average vehicle speed .
If the speed limit is within the permitted limit, no penalty is imposed ; however, if it exceeds the posted speed limit, the corresponding fine will be applied. These devices are usually placed on conventional roads and high-capacity highways, and can cover several kilometers.
