New Honda CB125F: redesign and more technology for the robust entry-level motorcycle

Many drivers who have held their driver's license for more than three years, for a multitude of reasons, decide to become motorcyclists. And to do so, they must start (if they don't decide to get their A2 license) with 125cc motorcycles like this one, the CB125F, an icon in this segment and one that has always been defined since its launch in 2015 as a durable, easy-to-use, simple, and reliable entry-level motorcycle.

For 2021, the Japanese firm refreshed the bike with a complete redesign, lightened it by 11 kg thanks to a new engine, and featured a revised frame and revamped bodywork. In 2024, it received a new muffler and passenger grab handle.

For this year, the model gets another update, but this time with more depth: it comes with updated, sharper styling , new LED headlights and taillights, as well as a new 4.2" full-color TFT display (including gear indicator, fuel gauge and clock), with RoadSync smartphone connectivity, and a USB-C port located near the handlebars.

Plus, for the first time on a Honda with a gearbox, it comes equipped with Idling Stop: the Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) engine, a 124cc, SOHC, 2-valve, air-cooled single-cylinder, now features Idling Stop technology for even lower fuel consumption. The system stops the engine from a standstill and operates (in any gear) to restart smoothly when the clutch is released; it can also be deactivated if desired.

This engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and sealed chain final drive. It also receives Euro 5+ approval. Maximum power of 10.7 hp is reached at 7,500 rpm , with maximum torque of 10.9 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Its low fuel consumption allows it to travel 66.7 km/l, offering a potential range of over 730 km with its 11-liter fuel tank. It is fitted with a higher-capacity battery, previously 4Ah and now 6Ah, which guarantees long-lasting starting power.

The two rear shock absorbers have five-position preload adjustment and complement the 30 mm diameter telescopic front fork; the front and rear wheels are 18-inch cast aluminum. The tires are 80/100 mm at the front and 100/80 mm at the rear. A 240 mm front disc works with a single-piston caliper and is assisted by a 130 mm rear drum. It features a Combined Brake System (CBS). Its curb weight is just 117 kg. A center stand and passenger grab handle are also standard. The seat height is 790 mm.

The 2026 CB125F will be available in the following color options: Imperial Red Metallic, Marvel Blue Matte Metallic, and Axis Grey Matte Metallic.
