Jeep Avenger: This is the brand's most affordable model, coming to Argentina.

Jeep Avenger: This is the brand's most affordable model, coming to Argentina.

It has been confirmed that Jeep will manufacture its fourth model in Brazil. It's the Avenger , which will become the smallest and most affordable model from the most famous 4x4 brand and will be available in the Argentine market.

This is a model that was launched in Europe in 2023 and was originally announced as an electric vehicle only.

Last year, Clarín was able to confirm with its own source the rumor that began circulating in Brazil that this model would be manufactured at the Peugeot Citroën plant in Rio de Janeiro, which originally belonged to the company.

The Avenger's arrival in the region is the result of the massive investment announced by Stellantis for the neighboring country. The mega-brand conglomerate, which includes Jeep, Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën, DS, and Ram, among many others, had announced a monumental investment of $6 billion for Brazil.

Part of that amount, about $600 million , went to the Porto Real factory (Rio de Janeiro), which is now used almost exclusively by the Citroën brand, as it produces the new C3 family, including the C3 Aircross and the Basalt . Starting in 2026, the new Jeep model will be added.

The launch of the Avenger is part of Jeep's global expansion plan. The most famous 4x4 brand made a major leap forward with models like the Renegade and Compass, which were more popular than anything the brand had ever offered in its history.

But electromobility trends and the need to continue expanding gave rise to the Avenger, a vehicle originally designed as an electric vehicle and primarily intended for the European market.

It is also the first Jeep vehicle built on a platform from the former PSA (Peugeot Citroën). Called the CMP , it is currently used in Argentina for the production of models such as the 208 and the 2008. Being a "multi-energy" platform, meaning it can accommodate both combustion engine and electrified versions, it was well-suited to Jeep's needs.

But the announced plans changed, and Avenger was also announced with hybrid propulsion systems. This was the window of opportunity for Mercosur , where 100% electric vehicles still lack the presence they do in other markets and where the push for hybridization is expected to be very strong in the coming years.

The design of the new Jeep model is closer to a crossover than an SUV. In terms of size and positioning, it's smaller than a Renegade, which is why it will compete in these parts with models like the Renault Kardian , Fiat Pulse , and the upcoming Volkswagen Tera , among others.

The Avenger measures 4.08 meters long, 1.78 meters wide, 1.53 meters high, and has a wheelbase of 2.56 meters . While the Renegade measures 4.27 meters long, 1.80 meters wide, 1.70 meters high, and has a wheelbase of 2.57 meters. The trunk, however, is larger in the smaller model: 380 liters versus 320.

Inside, it has a very modern style, similar to 100% electric models, the same quality that the Avenger was born with: a minimalist interior, with large digital screens and few analog elements.

In addition to the original electric version with which it was introduced, combustion engine and hybrid variants were added in Europe. In fact, an all-wheel-drive version includes one combustion engine and two electric motors.

For our region, it is speculated that it will have the 1.0 turbo engine (known as T200 for its torque), which has been giving such good results in several models of the Stellantis group, but in this case with a mild hybrid system.
