It is revealed that Checo Pérez had contact with four F1 teams to return.

It is revealed that Checo Pérez had contact with four F1 teams to return.

A few days ago, Mexican driver Sergio "Checo" Pérez spoke about his departure from Red Bull and his absence from Formula 1 (F1) in an interview. However, his return remains a mystery, despite rumors that he will join Cadillac starting in 2026.

This Saturday, during the broadcast of free practice for the Austrian Grand Prix , motorsports journalist Diego Mejía revealed that the Guadalajara native had been in contact with four teams about making his grand return to the circuit.

However, only two of those four options would be the strongest options for seeing the Mexican back in a seat on the driver's grid next season.

"What I know is that there has been contact with four teams, but there really is a possibility, maybe half of those four, two," Mejía confessed. The truth is, Cadillac has publicly expressed interest in Checo, although nothing has been confirmed at this time.

"On the Alpine issue, Alpine seems a bit chaotic to me right now because there's no clear direction. Luca de Meo resigning, and we don't know what's going to happen with Flavio Briatore because Luca de Meo brought him in," he concluded.

Checo Pérez and Red Bull announced the end of their relationship and parted ways last December, after the Guadalajara native had been with the team for four seasons, despite still having two years left on his contract.

Despite a poor 2024 season, the Jalisco native was instrumental in multi-time champion Max Verstappen's consecutive titles, and also contributed to the 2022 and 2023 Team Championships. His best year was when he finished as world runner-up in 2023, behind only his former Dutch teammate.
