Citroën, MG, and VW win the Ayvens Ecomotion Tour 2025

After nearly 400 kilometers of round-trip travel between Madrid and Segovia, the 2025 edition of the Ayvens Ecomotion Tour has finally announced its winners. Citroën, among the fully electric (BEV) models; MG, among the plug-in hybrids (PHEV); and Volkswagen in the hybrid (HEV) and mild hybrid (MHEV) categories.
With 16 editions already under its belt, this test has a format that is as simple as it is demanding: the aim is to optimize the energy consumption of the participating vehicles (31 of 23 brands) under real-life conditions, always respecting the route established by the organizers and safety regulations.

From here on, the winners in each category are those vehicles that achieve the greatest reduction in fuel consumption compared to the manufacturer's approved figures. In each car, a brand representative and a specialist journalist alternate behind the wheel.
Among BEVs, the Citroën e-C3 Aircross won, with an average consumption of 12.92 kWh per 100 km. That's 29.39% lower than the official figure. Among PHEVs, the winner was the MG HS, with a total consumption of 7.54 kWh of electric power and 2.35 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. Finally, among plug-in hybrids, no one performed as well as a Volkswagen Tayron , which finished with an average consumption of 5.09 liters (down 22.8%).

To improve the efficiency of the cars, which were monitored in real time, the tires were fitted with low-rolling-resistance Goodyear tires. Fuel was provided by Repsol, and to recharge the BEV and PHEV batteries, the organizers also relied on an advanced charging infrastructure from Solred this year, capable of simultaneously supplying 30 vehicles. This is unique in non-sporting events and is on par with international competitions such as the Eco Rally.

"The Ayvens Ecomotion Tour isn't a traditional competition; it goes much further. It's a testing ground that allows us to demonstrate how driving and technology can contribute to energy savings," explained David Henche, Head of Communications and ESG at Ayvens Spain.
