Brand new car sales surpassed 500,000 in 2025: the 10 most popular cars in September

With three months to go until the end of the 2025 fiscal year, sales of brand-new vehicles have already surpassed half a million units , representing a 20.8% increase compared to the total number of vehicles registered throughout 2024.
"We continue to sell vehicles at a more than acceptable pace, after a month that featured all sorts of factors, including election results and economic exchange rate fluctuations," said Sebastián Beato, president of the Association of Dealers (ACARA).
Beato refers to the 55,827 units registered during September, which represented a 27.8% year-over-year increase compared to the 43,679 sales recorded in the same month in 2024.
This figure also represented a monthly increase of 1.7% compared to the 54,888 units registered in August.

Thus, in the nine months to date, 500,089 units were registered, 60.4% more than in the same period in 2024, when 311,757 vehicles were registered.
"We emphasize that we continue to have a monthly floor of 50,000 units, something that, when we made projections at the beginning of the year, we saw as difficult to achieve and sustain," Beato added.
Toyota was once again the best-selling brand (8,955 units), followed by Volkswagen and Fiat with 7,946 and 6,177 vehicles respectively.

The Japanese brand has accumulated 81,488 units sold by 2025, trailing Volkswagen by 3,000 cars. However, this gap could narrow in the coming months following the damage to the Toyota plant in Porto Feliz , São Paulo, forcing an indefinite suspension of production.
Although the Japanese brand has its plant in Zárate, the incident in the neighboring country affects all regional production, as the engines for the Corolla, Corolla Cross, and Yaris models sold in Argentina and other markets are manufactured there. It also forced the delay of the launch of the highly anticipated Yaris Cross , which was scheduled for late November.
The Toyota Yaris is currently the best-selling model in Argentina. Its 3,037 registrations in September allowed it to displace the Fiat Cronos (2,077) from the top of the overall ranking.
The compact car from Brazil (produced at the Sorocaba factory) has accumulated 26,023 sales, while the Cordoba sedan follows with 26,009 units. The last place on the podium is occupied by another Brazilian car: the 208, with 24,632 registrations.

In addition to the Yaris, the Japanese brand has two other models in the top 10 sales: the Hilux pickup (in 4th place, with 24,581 registered units) and the Corolla Cross SUV (8th, with 15,861 units).
The Ford Territory , on the other hand, stood out in September as the best-selling SUV on the market. The model, which comes from China, ranked fifth, even surpassing cheaper, well-selling models like the Chevrolet Tracker and the Toyota Corolla Cross.
