Toyota RAV4 (2026): The interior of the 6th generation in detail

Toyota RAV4 (2026): The interior of the 6th generation in detail

What does a car like this, which has topped the global sales charts for years, actually need? A design, drivetrain, and overall concept that works all over the world—in the Australian outback as well as in the narrow streets of Italy.

And that certainly includes a comfortable, accessible, and functional interior. In over 30 years, the Toyota RAV4 has become the world's best-selling car. To ensure this history continues, the sixth generation of the Japanese SUV will launch in 2026. Let's take a look inside to see what technological innovations and space the new RAV4 offers.

The dashboard of the Toyota RAV4

Let's start, as always, with the dashboard. Upon getting in, the first thing you notice is the new steering wheel, which features a more sober layout of the physical buttons. The mechanical gear selector in the center console has also been removed—a digital version now takes up considerably less space.

While the old RAV4 still had graphical and performance weaknesses in its infotainment system, a 12.9-inch touchscreen with the new Arena platform as its operating system should remedy this. A clearly structured and graphically rich interface should ensure uncomplicated use. The interface can also be customized.

There's also a new, advanced voice assistant and over-the-air updates. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay can also be used. A few physical buttons below the infotainment screen provide direct access to climate control and, further down, various driving modes and the like.

The instrument cluster, with its detailed driver information, has also been redesigned. The 12.3-inch screen now also displays maps from Google Maps, for example.

Materials and workmanship

Overall, the interior feels practical and functional, typical of Toyota. The materials are solidly crafted, and their robustness suggests a long, trouble-free service life in the RAV4 .

No frills, no gimmicks. Hard plastic trim dominates the lower section and padded surfaces in the visible area – simple and uncluttered. These are combined with storage compartments and seats that promise genuine comfort and provide good support, not only in the GR Sport trim.

Space and trunk

Toyota hasn't yet commented on the luggage capacity, but the RAV4's usable space will remain befitting its status. Especially since the dimensions haven't changed, with the SUV still measuring 4.60 meters long. This means it will at least offer the nearly 500 to 1,604 liters of space of the previous generation.

There's also ample head and legroom (even in the rear). The second row of seats also features air vents and several USB-C ports.

At our first encounter, the Toyota RAV4 seemed as spacious and versatile as ever. What it doesn't offer, however, is a 20:40:20 split rear seat. The Japanese manufacturer still relies on the classic 40:60 split.
