Toyota Corolla Cross (2025) receives a slight facelift

Toyota Corolla Cross (2025) receives a slight facelift

Asia already received it in February 2024, and now the redesigned Toyota Corolla Cross is also arriving on the European market. "With a sharper design, upgraded interior, and a particularly sporty trim level," according to the Japanese.

The Toyota Corolla Cross was introduced for the Thai market in 2020. It arrived here two years later, in 2022. So, around three years after its local market launch, a little facelift is planned. Let's take a look:

Honeycomb instead of trapeze

The most visually striking change is certainly the modified front end with its honeycomb-shaped grille, which replaces the chrome-framed trapezoidal version. Although it may not seem so visually, this is intended to improve ventilation for the powertrain (below you can see the new one on the left and the old one on the right).

On standard versions, the Toyota logo is now integrated into a light bar that connects the two LED headlights. The top-of-the-line model also features adaptive high beams.

At the rear, the arrangement of the light signature changes slightly. This suggests a tilted J-shape in the taillight element. The embossed model logo in the strip above the license plate recess also stands out.

More comfort in the interior

Inside, the Japanese company has given the SUV a redesigned center console with a modified gearshift lever. This is complemented by a sliding center armrest, redesigned cup holders, and an additional storage compartment for smartphones. These can be charged inductively. Toyota promises one and a half times faster charging than before.

A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster provides key driver information. A high-resolution 10.5-inch touchscreen serves as the central control element for the Toyota Smart Connect multimedia and infotainment system. Higher trim levels also feature improved ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, and heated seats. Several assistance systems and the third-generation Toyota Safety Sense system are designed to ensure on-board safety.

Highly sound-insulating materials, especially in the roof and rear compartment, are designed to quiet the soundscape and also reduce vibrations. Depending on the trim level, the Corolla Cross features a new three-layer sound insulation panel in the dashboard that minimizes engine noise.

Improved drive and an athlete

Meanwhile, nothing has changed under the hood. Toyota continues to offer a 1.8-liter engine with 103 kW (140 hp) and a 2.0-liter hybrid with 145 kW (197 hp). However, the latter features intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD-i), which for the first time includes a "Snow Extra" mode.

This is designed to improve stability and control on snowy roads. The additional rear motor of the all-wheel-drive model prevents wheel spin, thus increasing traction.

For the new model year, the Corolla Cross family is getting a GR Sport version. In addition to the black 19-inch alloy wheels and the two-tone Storm Grey paint scheme, the GR is most recognizable by its more aggressive grille with a black Toyota logo. Inside, GR logos and red stitching on the Alcantara seats evoke a sportier appearance.

The chassis is lowered by ten millimeters. With modified power steering and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, the Corolla Cross GR is said to contribute to a "responsive and exciting driving experience." The sport version also comes with an integrated Sport mode, which is said to offer faster acceleration.

More about Toyota:

When the driver eases off the accelerator, Sport mode automatically increases deceleration for a sportier braking feel. This puts Toyota more in the direction of a sporty version of a Hilux rather than the uncompromising sports cars like the GR Yaris and Supra .

With the Toyota Relax Warranty, the Japanese manufacturer aims to ensure a "carefree car life" for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of first registration or 250,000 kilometers of mileage. Toyota is not currently disclosing pricing for the facelift. Previously, the minimum price was €36,550. The Toyota Corolla Cross with the facelift is scheduled to arrive in German dealerships in fall 2025.
