After a disappointing Spanish GP, Marc Marquez has made an impressive comeback so far this MotoGP weekend in Le Mans . He set a new record lap on the French asphalt in practice on Friday afternoon.

The result: Marc Marquez was 0.177 seconds faster than Le Mans fan favorite Fabio Quartararo in 1:29.855 minutes. Francesco Bagnaia finished third ahead of Fermin Aldeguer and World Championship leader Alex Marquez. Jack Miller snatched sixth place ahead of a KTM duo of Pedro Acosta and Maverick Vinales. Franco Morbidelli and Marco Bezzecchi secured the final positions for direct entry into Q2.

Already in Q1, Johann Zarco (12th), Fabio Di Giannantonio (18th) and Brad Binder (19th) will have to compete.

Crashes, defects & incidents: Ai Ogura caused the first crash of the practice session. He went down while braking for the tight turn seven. His Aprilia rolled several times in the gravel and had to be rescued by the marshals. Ogura himself escaped unscathed.

Joan Mir crashed in the penultimate corner just 20 minutes before the end of practice. The crash was harmless, at least for the rider—the Honda sustained significant damage. Mir, however, was able to walk back to the pits.

A little later, Maverick Vinales was hit, flying off at turn nine. For Vinales, it was his first crash of the 2025 MotoGP season.

The next crash of the session occurred in the final time attack, involving local hero Johann Zarco, who also crashed in turn nine. Shortly later, Brad Binder also crashed in turn 2.

The weather: Significantly more cloud cover, but also warmer temperatures than in the first free practice session, greeted the MotoGP stars in practice on Friday afternoon. The outside temperature was 20 degrees Celsius, and the track was 29 degrees Celsius.
