Pierre Gasly: Flavio Briatore is in Formula 1 to win

(Motorsport-Total.com) - Last year there were a few changes in management at Alpine. But now the management structure has calmed down with team boss Oliver Oakes and advisor Flavio Briatore. A change that Pierre Gasly also highlights positively.
Flavio Briatore is to revive Alpine - and the signs are positive Zoom
"Since I joined the team, it has been a bit bumpy and unstable. But I'm very happy since Oli and Flavio joined the team," emphasises the Frenchman.
"You can clearly see the change in the mindset and team spirit. It's going in the right direction. All departments are really challenged to do their best. And that's exactly what we're doing." The first positive effects were already apparent in the 2024 Formula 1 season thanks to the new management level.
"We started extremely badly, but we managed to improve significantly over the course of the season. I have rarely seen such a development before," says Gasly, who was able to score heavily at the end of the season, which earned Alpine sixth place in the overall constructors' standings.
"This definitely shows that we are making progress," says the Alpine driver. Nevertheless, he is aware that there is still a long way to go to the top. He highlights Briatore's role as a decisive factor in the team's development.
"Flavio is a competitor. He is in Formula 1 to win. I am in Formula 1 to win. Oli is here to take the team forward - and to win. It will take time, but I definitely see a lot of positives in the team and that we are on the right track."
Gasly particularly appreciates Briatore's leadership qualities. "In a Formula 1 team, you need strong leadership that knows exactly where to steer the team. With 1,500 employees, we all have to take responsibility, especially the top management," says the Alpine driver.
Briatore not only brings with him his many years of experience as a team boss, but also valuable contacts in technical and business matters. "I think he has been in the sport long enough to understand how it works."
"Times have changed, but his dedication, his commitment and his motivation to do it again have not changed. This is something very important and I am very happy to see it. It is a very clear vision," said Gasly.
