Pedro Acosta gets off to a perfect start to the MotoGP weekend in Barcelona , ​​taking the lead in the first free practice session.

The result: Acosta was 0.095 seconds faster than Johann Zarco in 1:38.979 minutes. Marc Marquez had to settle for third place, but unlike his rivals, he rode the entire session on the same set of tires. Fourth place went to returning rider Maverick Vinales, ahead of Alex Marquez , Luca Marini, and Brad Binder. Marco Bezzecchi took P8 ahead of Aleix Espargaro, who impressed on his home track. Enea Bastianini rounded out the top ten with P10, a strong team result for KTM.

Jorge Martin couldn't get beyond 21st place. Francesco Bagnaia finished only 23rd.

Crashes, defects & incidents: Jack Miller caused the first crash of the MotoGP weekend after just nine minutes. He lost control of his Yamaha at turn ten.

The weather: MotoGP kicked off its race weekend in Barcelona with glorious late summer weather. The outside temperature was 22 degrees Celsius, and the track reached 41 degrees Celsius in almost unbroken sunshine.
