As predicted, heavy rain arrived at the Sachsenring on Saturday. The second free practice session of the MotoGP turned into a wet affair, with Marc Marquez once again in control.

The result: Marc Marquez was 0.197 seconds faster than Maverick Vinales with a time of 1:28.277 minutes. The next KTM rider, Pedro Acosta, finished second. Jack Miller took fourth place ahead of Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli. Brad Binder finished seventh. Johann Zarco, Marco Bezzecchi, and Luca Marini rounded out the top ten.

Friday’s leader Fabio Di Giannantonio finished twelfth ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo.

Crashes, defects & incidents: Despite the difficult conditions, the MotoGP stars had everything under control in the second free practice session. There were no crashes or trips into the gravel trap.

The weather: It had rained heavily overnight at the Sachsenring. Although the rain stopped on Saturday morning, practice for the smaller classes began on a completely wet track. During the Moto3 and Moto2 sessions, a dry racing line had already developed in some areas, but it started raining again just in time for the second MotoGP free practice session. Rain tires were therefore essential. The outside temperature was 15 degrees Celsius, and the asphalt reached 17 degrees Celsius.
