MotoGP - Marc Marquez also leads MotoGP training in Aragon, opponents get closer

Marc Marquez snatches the second fastest time of the weekend in MotoGP practice at Aragon. However, his lead has shrunk significantly.

After setting the fastest time in the first free practice session , Marc Marquez also finished first in the MotoGP practice session on Friday afternoon in Aragon . However, Marquez was nowhere near as dominant as he was in the opening session.

The result: Marc Marquez set a best time of 1:46.397 minutes in practice, just 0.204 seconds faster than Alex Marquez. KTM put on a strong team performance, with Maverick Vinales finishing third, Pedro Acosta fifth, and Brad Binder seventh. Joan Mir and Johann Zarco placed fourth and sixth between the KTM trio. Fermin Aldeguer finished eighth, just ahead of Francesco Bagnaia. Franco Morbidelli snagged the final spot for direct entry into Q2.

Already in Q1, Silverstone winner Marco Bezzecchi (11th), Fabio Di Giannantonio (12th) and all Yamahas around Fabio Quartararo (18th) will have to compete.

Crashes, defects & incidents: Johann Zarco made a mistake in the Corkscrew chicane and had to go through the gravel trap, but was able to steer his Honda safely back onto the track.

Franco Morbidelli experienced technical problems with his Ducati. Smoke poured from the rear of the bike, forcing him to pit halfway through the session.

The weather: Only light clouds marred the sunshine during MotoGP practice on Friday afternoon in Aragon. The outside temperature was 31 degrees Celsius, and the asphalt reached a respectable 50 degrees Celsius.
