WEC - 24 Hours of Le Mans 2025: BoP released - This is how Ferrari, Porsche, and others are ranked

It's the most important BoP of the year, and now it's here: the Balance of Performance for the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 14-15). For the absolute highlight of the WEC calendar, the results of the previous races will not play the decisive role as usual. Instead, the BoP is primarily based on simulations. This Sunday's official test day – the only opportunity to get a feel for the Circuit de la Sarthe under real conditions before the long race week – will also not be taken into account.
The changes for the top favorites, Ferrari , Toyota, and Porsche, are moderate compared to Le Mans 2024. The 499P prototypes of the Italian automaker, the overall winner of the past two years, will be 1 kilogram lighter and weigh 1,042 kg. Power will increase by 9 hp to 700 hp below 250 km/h. Above this mark, however, Ferrari loses 1.2 percent (approximately 8 hp) on the high-speed track. Ferrari has won the three WEC races so far this season in Qatar, Imola, and Spa-Francorchamps.
24h Le Mans 2025: Balance of Performance (Hypercar)Manufacturer | Weight | Performance up to 250 km/h | Performance from 250 km/h |
---|---|---|---|
Alpine | 1,039 kg | 703 hp | 685 hp |
Aston Martin | 1,030 kg | 707 hp | 701 hp |
BMW | 1,039 kg | 693 hp | 707 hp |
Cadillac | 1,037 kg | 703 hp | 697 hp |
Ferrari | 1,042 kg | 700 hp | 692 hp |
Peugeot | 1,039 kg | 689 hp | 681 hp |
Porsche | 1,041 kg | 695 hp | 685 hp |
Toyota | 1,053 kg | 707 hp | 692 hp |
The weight of the two Toyota GR010 Hybrids remains unchanged at 1,053 kilograms, making them the heaviest cars in the field of eight brands. Although the Japanese cars gain 16 hp below 250 km/h, reaching the maximum permitted system output of 707 hp, power drops by 2.2 percent (approximately 15 hp) above this limit. In 2024 ( see results ), the #7 Toyota finished second behind the victorious #50 Ferrari of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen.
The Porsche 963s are allowed to carry a maximum of 1 kilogram (1,041 kg), while their power output remains unchanged at 695 hp compared to last year. In return, the previously weak LMDh cars from Zuffenhausen enjoy a power increase of 1.4 percent above 250 km/h, equivalent to almost 10 hp. Porsche, the reigning drivers' world champion, is hoping for its 20th overall victory at the 93rd running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In addition to the two WEC cars, the sports car manufacturer is fielding another 963 from the IMSA, driven by Pascal Wehrlein, Nick Tandy, and Felipe Nasr.
Alpine and Mick Schumacher want to build on their strong performancesAlpine also aims to be among the frontrunners at its home race and has already made its mark with two podium finishes by Mick Schumacher , Jules Gounon, and Fred Makowiecki in the three WEC races so far. The disgrace of Le Mans 2024, when both Alpine A424s suffered early engine failures on their 24-hour debut, is set to be a thing of the past. The French team's two LMDh cars will gain 1 kilogram (1,039 kg) and 13 hp (703 hp below 250 km/h), but will lose 18 hp above 250 km/h.
The adjustments for LMDh competitors BMW and Cadillac are similarly moderate. The Peugeot hypercars, which could barely keep up at Le Mans in 2024, will be 8 kg lighter and slightly less powerful. Newcomer BMW will debut with the minimum weight of 1,030 kg and the maximum permitted power of 707 hp (701 hp above 250 km/h).
