Future of Mercedes-Benz: What will Mercedes bring in 2026 and 2027?

Electric E-Class, new S-Class, electric GLC – Mercedes fans still have to wait for most of the long-announced models. However, at the 2025 Annual General Meeting, Ola Källenius promised a broad product launch on many levels for the coming year, 2026 and the following year.
According to Källenius, this is the largest model offensive in the company's history – with the goal of consolidating Mercedes-Benz's position as a leading luxury car brand while simultaneously responding to the challenges of electromobility. Mercedes-Benz plans to launch 19 new combustion engine models and 17 battery-electric vehicles by the end of 2027. The new CLA will serve as the basis and guide for all future generations of vehicles.
Ola Källenius emphasized that Mercedes-Benz continues to pursue an "Electric First" strategy, but remains flexible to respond to market conditions. The MMA platform enables the production of vehicles with various drive systems, including combustion engines, hybrids, and electric vehicles. The company is also investing in digital sales channels and plans to strengthen customer loyalty through personalized services and an expanded online offering.
New CLA generation : The CLA series will be the first model to be launched on the new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform. The all-electric variant offers a range of up to 750 km, supports 800V charging technology for fast charging, and is equipped with the new MB.OS for advanced driver assistance systems. The series will launch with the four-door coupé. The shooting brake will follow in 2026.
Electric GLC : The all-electric GLC SUV will be unveiled at the IAA Mobility in September. It is also based on the MMA platform, which is designed for 800-volt technology and enables fast charging times and long ranges. Variants with one or two electric motors are planned, with the more powerful version offering a system output of up to 489 hp. Ranges of over 700 kilometers are targeted.
With the electric GLC, Mercedes aims to replace the current EQC and create a competitive offering in the mid-size premium electric SUV segment. The vehicle is intended to set new standards in terms of performance, range, and technology. Production of the electric GLC will begin in the first quarter of 2026 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA. This decision will allow Mercedes to benefit from local incentive programs such as the Inflation Reduction Act and optimize production capacity for the US market.
Revised S-Class : The S-Class is receiving a comprehensive update that includes both design adjustments and technological improvements. Källenius emphasizes that the S-Class remains a core vehicle for Mercedes-Benz—as a flagship and technology leader. Alongside the all-electric EQS, the classic S-Class with modernized combustion and hybrid drive systems remains an integral part of the lineup. This decision is justified by the desire to serve diverse customer needs around the world, especially in markets where electromobility is progressing more slowly or the charging infrastructure is not yet sufficiently developed.
The Mercedes CEO also emphasized that the S-Class will increasingly benefit from software-driven innovations in the future. The new MB.OS operating system, which will initially be introduced in the CLA, will eventually also be used in higher vehicle classes such as the S-Class. Mercedes aims to take comfort, safety, and customization options to the next level through intelligent software solutions.
New GLE : Mercedes will also present a new generation of the GLE, including a long-wheelbase version produced specifically for the Chinese market. The facelift is intended to further advance electrification. Additional plug-in hybrid variants will be available, offering significantly increased electric range. Furthermore, the updated GLE will be equipped with the latest digital systems, including a revised infotainment system and improved driver assistance functions. Källenius did not mention a fully electric counterpart to the GLE in his speech.
Compact electric G-Class : However, Ola Källenius does mention a fully electric, compact version of the G-Class, referred to internally as the "small G." This new model will retain the iconic character of the classic G-Class, but will appear in a significantly more compact format and be powered exclusively by electric power. Källenius emphasizes that the "small G" is not a mere offshoot, but a standalone vehicle with true "G" DNA – robust, powerful, and with a powerful presence.
Also planned for 2026 are the new generations of the GLA and GLB , including their electrified EQ variants, which will likely no longer be called EQA and EQB. The C-Class could get a facelift in 2026.
All-electric E-Class: The E-Class will be introduced for the first time as a fully electric model and is intended to set new standards in efficiency and technology. Whether it will replace the EQE by then remains to be seen. Furthermore, facelifts for the SL Roadster , the GT Coupé , and the CLE are scheduled for 2027.
